November has been just like every other month for our coaches and gymnasts…BUSY! Not only juggling training with competitions but also the addition of Christmas routines!
Last weekend wrapped up the final competition before the Christmas shows, we had four partnerships compete at the Pat Wade Classic. It is a great competition that unites clubs from up and down the UK. It is a great stage for our Spelthorne gymnasts, showing them what talent is about in the upcoming season and easing them in gently for the forthcoming national and international competitions in the new year.
Our four partnerships competing in the age group categories were as followed:
- Abbey & Hannah, 11-16 Women’s Pair
- Jolie, Ellie & Zemirah, 11-16 Women’s Group
- Ethan & Ruby, 11-16 Mixed Pair
- Zoe & Fran, 12-18 Women’s Pair.
Each partnership performed well during the balance and dynamic rounds on the Saturday, qualifying them for the finals on the Sunday.
Abbey and Hannah performed a stunning dynamic routine on the Sunday scoring them 27.100, just being pipped to the post by the Oxford gymnasts who scored 27.200 .. The tiny margin shows that the girls have the ability to come back in the new year and challenge those scores, and hopefully to bring home the gold!
Jolie, Ellie and Zemirah performed their balance routine in the final.. A fun and mature routine that won over the judges, their high execution score put them in a good position, with a final score of 27.650 they were untouchable.. Enabling them to take home the gold!
Ethan and Ruby performed their balance routine in the final. After receiving a penalty on the Saturday for their balance routine, it was a chance to come back fighting and show what they really can do. Scoring over two whole marks higher in the final, secured them with the silver medal behind the Wakefield gymnasts.
Finally, one of our more recent partnerships Zoe and Fran were taking to the floor in the 12-18 category. Performing three mature routines. Starting with their balance and dynamic routines on the Saturday.. Finishing in first place with the both so qualifying for the final, to compete their combined routine on the Sunday. This routine also wowed the judges and secured them the gold- great job girls!!
A very successful weekend had by all, now time to crack on with the last bit of Christmas prep, as believe it or not the shows are only 2 weeks away!!
We hope to see you all there, the first Christmas shows in the new gym- one not to be missed!
xoxo
